Community Garden

Launched in December 2020

A partnership between Hands of Change, Meredith Primary School and Golden Plains Shire has seen the design and delivery of a new program called “Nurturing Young Minds for their Future”. This program and the garden was made possible through grant funding from Geelong Community Foundation.

This project is aimed at year five and six students, to teach them practical business skills for the future - focusing on planning and budgeting; building resilience and a can-do attitude.

Using the concept of a Community Garden as the basis for this project, students will be required to:

  • form a business
  • nominate a management team
  • execute the project from beginning to end

Key skill sets related to planning, perseverance and resilience will be taught. These skills link to core capabilities required in business and everyday life skills. Our aim is to develop these skills through this experiential program at an early age to increase the success rate of these students as they progress to high-school and beyond.

Now that the garden is functional, we are forming a Committee to manage it on-going. If you are interested in joining the Committee, please register your interest below.
